Matt Baker is a registered professional engineer with over 30 years of experience in the government and regulatory fields. Matt served over 20 years at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, serving in a variety of roles including Director of Small Business & Environmental Assistance, Director of Enforcement, Director of Monitoring Operations, and Assistant Director of Waste Permitting. While at the TCEQ, Matt was a permit engineer, authored numerous regulations, testified before legislative committees regarding environmental issues, and represented the TCEQ on economic development matters with the Governor’s Office. Matt has served as the Vice-Chair of the Round Rock Planning & Zoning Commission and currently serves as a councilmember for the City of Round Rock. He currently serves as the Secretary for the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) Executive Committee, Chair of the Central Texas Clean Air Coalition, and the Vice-President of The Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA). He is a licensed REALTOR with experience in commercial and residential real estate, and he holds a Master’s Peace Officer License. Matt is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the Governor’s Executive Development Program through the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. Matt currently sits on several non-profit boards and serves his community as a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
